Should Nintendo Make a Battle Royale Game?

Battle royale games like PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite have become quite popular as of late. Nintendo isn't really known for riding trends as much as they are for making trends, but Fortnite is a great example of how Nintendo can add their own charm to the battle royale genre.

I think one of the big problems with the battle royale genre is how similar all the games are. You start out with nothing, then look for weapons, then try to avoid death while killing others, then you theoretically win. Nintendo's in a good place to change that because they already have a world and weapons they can use in a battle royale game; Breath of the Wild.

The world and many game mechanics from Breath of the Wild could make for an excellent Battle Royale game, and make good use of weapon decay. I even think they should keep NPC enemies around for more chances to get good weapons. They should probably bump up the chance of enemy camps having good items though.

I don't think many mechanics would need to be changed either, with the exception of slowing time when firing an arrow in the air. I don't want this to sound like I think it'd be an easy task however. Breath of the Wild has excellent mechanics, but from a technical level it wasn't made for dozens of people to run around stabbing each other. Battle royale games aren't as easy as taking a single player game and allowing more controllers to be used. It takes time to make the engine support it, and then every potential problem needs to be fixed, including the numerous ways to fall through the ground which already exist in Breath of the Wild.

Despite those issues, I would love to see Breath of the Wild get a battle royale mode as DLC. But this is something that a lot of people definitely don't want, so I want to hear your thoughts on the matter. Should Nintendo make a battle royale game? Should Breath of the Wild be the backbone for one? Please share your thoughts.
