Fun to be Had for Cheap on Nintendo Switch

The Nintendo Switch is an excellent system with excellent games, but with no game included and a steep $300 price tag, some might need to stick with some free games and apps for awhile.

But before I get into the free stuff, I want to talk about some games that I recommend that have a small price tag.

-Stardew Valley: If you've enjoyed Harvest Moon games in the past, Stardew Valley is an amazing game that carries that series' torch. The game has a heavy emphasis on farming, which is fun on its own, but it also has mining, relationship building, and even a little bit of exploration. The game also has multiplayer, but you'll need a friend with a Switch of their own and another copy of the game.

-The Bridge: In The Bridge, you need to turn the world around to move objects into place or out of your way. You also depend on this mechanic to clear large gaps as you have no jump. The game is full of moments where you really have to think about how to solve the puzzle.

-LEGO City Undercover: This game is a lighthearted open world game where you can "borrow" cars from other people, run people over (but they get back up), and occasionally solve crime. You technically play as a cop, but aside from the story that doesn't really matter. I found this game to be a really fun open world experience on the Switch. It's also available on other platforms, but I personally had few issues with the Switch version.

Actually Free:

-Fortnite: Fortnite gets berated all the time because it's played by kids, but for a free game it's easily worth trying. It's a fun third-person shooter with tons of variety. It's also very clean for a shooter, which is a nice plus

-Brawlhalla: This game serves as a bit of a Smash Bros replacement, but being much cheaper and having free online, it's not a bad one. The controls are a little flimsy feeling at times, but as a free game it's definitely worth checking out.

-Fallout Shelter: This is a simple game where you don't really do much. It can be incredibly rewarding to see your army of people grow in size and gain more resources, but it's also incredibly unforgiving at times. It currently stands as the only Fallout game I've played, but I never felt lost in the mechanics.

Worthwhile Demos:

For some people, the games available for free aren't their style. And if that person is you or you just want to try something new, here are some demos that I think are worth your time.

-Puyo Puyo Tetris: I'm sure the full game is worth the price, but the demo has so much content it's hard to justify buying the full game. Tetris needs no introduction, but the "Puyo Puyo" part of the title is a new one for many of us. It's essentially match four type game with physics involved. Whether my explanation was sufficient or not I highly recommend this demo to anyone.

-Mahjong Solitaire Refresh: This certainly isn't everyone's taste, but fans of Mahjong should absolutely check this demo out. It's hard to explain because it really is just Mahjong. I don't know how much content is in the demo because it's too much for me to find the limit. The demo is good, the full game is also good.

-Inversus: Inversus is a great competitive "puzzle" game. You aren't able to cross into the territory owned by the other player. You have to shoot non-descript color bullets to claim said territory and also to attack the enemy player. It's a great game to play with a friend.

I hope I've given you some ideas on what you can play without spending a fortune on games. If there are any free or cheap games you'd like to add, please add them in the comments.
