Switch Controllers Are Increasingly Idiotic

Nintendo was in a state of constant flip-flop with the Wii U. Star Fox Zero only supported the Wii U Gamepad, Mario Party 10 only supported the Wii Remote, and Smash Bros supported every controller option available for the system. The Switch introduced a Pro Controller that contains all the same hardware as the Joy-Con controllers, meaning compatibility should be 100%. It has instead been a prime opportunity for Nintendo to show how much they didn't learn from the Wii U's failure.

Nintendo has a strong history of making games that anyone can play. Splatoon 1 and 2 not only offer a colorblind mode, but also allow the player to enable or disable motion controls to fit their preference.

Super Mario Party is a game that is played entirely with one Joy-Con. This isn't optional, it's the only way to play the game. Honestly this feels like a horribly unfunny joke to me. Nintendo's biggest party game only supports one controller option, and it's the most uncomfortable controller Nintendo has made in the last 30 years.

Then you have Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, which requires motion controls to catch Pokemon when playing docked, but allows you to just press a button in handheld mode. The game does not allow you to disable motion controls, and the Pro Controller is not compatible. Pokemon Let's Go is honestly the least accessible Pokemon game I've ever seen. If you're physically unable to throw objects, you can't play this game on a TV.

I honestly want more people to complain about this. This isn't a case where Nintendo's unencumbered vision is detrimental to a game being released, this is a case where they don't know what's actually important. You can look at the Xbox One and complain about the lack of exclusives, but they at least pretend to care about giving disabled gamers an option. It's honestly infuriating to me that Let's Go doesn't support a $60-$70 controller because they were too lazy to implement it, and instead created a $50 controller that only works in one game.
