Lots of people are unhappy with how Nintendo now requires you to spend $20 per year in order play many games online. Among them is Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which won't even allow you to use many of the new 3.0 features without an online membership. Thankfully, it's currently possible for Amazon Prime members to get a free year of the online membership.
Step 1: Linking Your Amazon and Twitch Account. The process is could change in the future, but for now it's best to follow the simple instructions found here.
Step 2: Claiming Your Online Membership. By going to page found here, you can claim the first three months of the membership. After 60 days, you'll be able to claim the other nine months of the membership. You'll be asked to log into your Nintendo Account in order to complete the process.
Step 3: Disabling Auto Renew. On your Nintendo Switch, launch the eShop, enter the "account information" section by selecting your profile picture in the top right corner, then choose "Nintendo Switch Online" and press "Turn Off Automatic Renewal."
Step 4: Enjoy! (optional). You're now able to play Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Super Smash Bros Ultimate online to your heart's content! You can also take full advantage of online exclusive games like the NES games and Tetris 99.
